Today we are talking all things SCHEDULES!
We all know the challenge of “fitting it all in”. I hope that sharing our schedules with you helps you to find a schedule, an idea, or a way to manage your day that could work just right for you! I’d love to hear in the comments below what your schedule is like too!
Here is a snap shot of my schedule right out of my planning book. I’ve had the same schedule since the beginning of the year, and my schedule is exactly the same every day which keeps lesson pace, routines, expectations, etc. clear and steady from day to day.
I post my schedule in the room every day using a GINORMOUS FREEBIE from my store that you can see below . . .
Our schedule doesn’t change much from day to day, so my kiddos always know what is coming up next!
One of the most commonly asked questions that I get as a blogger and as a TPT author is “do you use a reading/math series?” I wanted to take you on a bit of a tour through the reading and math series that we use, how I plan for them, and how I keep everything organized!
Short answers: I use Reading Wonders for reading and Everyday Math for math.
Longer answers: … see the videos and images below 🙂
Here’s a brief video inside of my reading plans, binders, and activity drawers.

As you can see above, our district adopted Reading Wonders for a reading series. As I mentioned in the video, I’ve used it mostly for a scope and sequence of skills/genres, etc., however I don’t use all of the printables/activities because…well…yuck. I supplement with close reading passages, centers and activities, interactive notebook resources, anchor charts….the list goes on with the supplements. I just want to make it as print/text rich as I possibly can for the kiddos, and I know I can depend on my talented TPTers to provide the perfect activities to go along with what I’m teaching!
For our reading block, we switch students across the grade level. For an hour and a half today, the 2nd graders in my school are grouped by reading level. I have the highest group of readers for our reading block of our schedule. Because I don’t have my readers all day long, I split my instruction up into 2 days whole group (Monday & Wednesday) and then I spend 2 days doing a Daily 5 type structure (Tuesday & Thursday) pulling small groups based on who needs what practice/enrichment with which skills. I spend a lot of the small group time on Tuesdays and Thursdays responding to reading with my kid – using/finding text evidence to PROVE their answers!
During our reading block, we depend heavily on our Reading Focus Wall! Take a peek below!
Reading Wonders Focus Wall packs for 1st and 2nd grade can be found {HERE}.
In addition to the texts that Reading Wonders provides, I use a variety of additional texts during reading including my leveled book library pictured below. The kiddos use these leveled books to read during read to self or during DropEverythingAndRead time later in the day.

**you can read a little bit more about how I organized my reading wonders materials on a previous organization blog post {HERE}
Fact: Math is my favorite part of the day. We have about an hour for our math block and I am ALWAYS running out of time. I’m ALWAYS wishing for more hours in the day! So in true #bereal style. . . I DON’T always fit it all in! I’m always wishing I had more time all day long!
Here is a brief video to the pieces and parts of my math block, resources, and organization in my classroom.
As you can see, Everyday Math is the Math series that our school district uses.
If I’m being honest, it’s not on my list of favorite things. However – I LOVE that I have a flexible principal who trusts us as professionals to supplement as we see fit!! I supplement in math like CRAZY… and all of that supplementing takes a LOT of organization!!
The picture below shows how/where I store all of my math activities. Everyday math is divided into units. For each activity, I label the ziploc bag with the unit and lesson that it matches – Then, I add the activity to the corresponding numbered drawer so from year to year I know exactly where to find what I already have prepped for each unit! 🙂 The drawers below can be found at Michaels, Pat Catans, Sam’s Club, and Costco!
Another supplement that is a MUST have part of our math block is Angie’s INTERACTIVE MATH NOTEBOOKS! . . . . We keep them stored by table and use them occasionally for guided practice, whole group, even as a quick assessment. We LOVE them!! 🙂
I could go on and on and on about the schedule of our day, but I’ll stop there for now! I’m hoping that my post gives you an idea for your schedule!

I LOVE that you are able to supplement your math so much, just like me! We use Saxon and it's totally not my favorite!! I am able to add so much more to it too, and Angie's notebooks are of course one of my favorites as well!! I love that you only have an hour to fit it all in too, so you feel my pain!! Thanks for this awesome linky friend! <3 ya!

I love reading teacher blogs! This is such a great idea…thank you!
I read three of the schedule blogs and noticed there was no recess time. I'm not sure if this is something that is common or not. Is recess becoming a thing of the past? I hope not! I understand children need the instructional time but there is so much benefit to recess time (it's more than just playtime).
Thank you again for this great idea!

AGREED! Our kiddos go to recess after lunch, but I know there are some schools who don't have recess built in. They DEFINITELY need it. My special group of kiddos this year needs it SO so badly! haha! Thanks so much for stopping by our blogs!

I love this linky! I love this linky! I love this linky! Seriously, I am such a "stalker" of schedules. I love to see how others fit everything in each day. I also love to see how others are using a curriculum to guide instruction. I use Reading Street. I've already decided–and it has been cleared with my principal–to abandon Saxon next year and organize my own math schedule. Yikes! A little nervous about that…but also excited. Thanks again for the linky–hoping to link up soon!

LOVE your reading focus wall!! Is it a bulletin board? Do you have the dimensions? I want to order one for my reading area. It is such a great visual for the kids. Wow!! Thanks for all your wonderful ideas.

Love your lesson plan templates! Would you mind telling what parts of the basal you actually use? I'm trying to figure that out myself.

These templates are amazing! Any chance you might eventually sell your lesson plans for EDM or Wonders? I use both curriculum and would love to have them as a guide.
